Random short update, because I tend to neglect the journal during the school year.

So yeah, done 2nd year. Very pleased with all my grades, including 3 A+s in courses I considered a lot of work. Got good enough grades to get my scholarship renewed. Got a small art scholarship. Also got invited to some academic group because I'm in the top 15% of my class. As a friend of mine would put it, I'm a smarticle popsicle (ignore the fact that I mock her everytime she says that).

Also have my schedule made for next year. I got the Image and Narrative drawing studio that I've been coveting since first year Also have my paperwork through to minor in History and I start some of those courses. Very excited about that.

I have to say, haven't really produced any worthwhile art lately. The last two months since school ended has mostly been spent job-hunting. Was more or less fruitless because the economy sucks, but at least I got a number of interviews. I know people who have been job-hunting and haven't even gotten that far. Finally DID get a job, mind you. I work in a coffee shop now but I'm not allowed to make anything difficult yet there's a lot to learn, so I expect training will take a while, but it seems all right so far. I always smell delicious by the time I get home, anyways.

My life at this point is really too boring to comment on. I really must make some art. And clean my room. And finish getting my license. And get ass when I can </ignore that>.

I never update this thing, ahaha.

So um. school again. Another year of being stressed, woohoo. Maybe this year my school won't go on strike for 3 months and fuck up my year 30 different ways :s
I think I'm gonna minor in History in addition to my Visual Arts program.
Actually, I anticipate it being an okay year. I know people in my program now and I have other friends there now also. One of my best friends moved from Montreal to come to school, so that's exciting for me

Yeah, so that's really it for now. Stay tuned for exciting updates on medieval art and paleoanthropology.. or not.

So I am pretty excited.. I was recently informed by the TA for a drawing class at school that she selected two works from my graded portfolio to display in one of the school's galleries in March. I think this is a great oppurtunity, or at least it gives me brag-rights for later ventures.

I don't actually know which pieces she chose, though I do have an idea. I won't find out till I pick up my portfolio in the next couple of days and see which one is missing.

PS, nothing from that particular portfolio is in this gallery yet as the pieces (at least the ones I like) are all too large for my scanner and I haven't had time to photograph them yet. Hopefully I will be able to get them online eventually.

Umm kay so for those who didn't know.. I'm a HUGE fan of the Karate Kid movies... (well okay, I didn't see the third one because I heard it was crap, though I daresay I'll see it eventually, and the fourth one doesn't even have Ralph Macchio, so it's a lost cause). So anyways I had a mini-marathon and owing to the frequency of many young Ralph Macchio related fantasies and the tendency for 80's montage music to get stuck in my head, I got the Karate Kid soundtrack! well not officially. it's burnt. but it makes me so happy :3 plus I included one of the songs included in the movie that wasn't on the soundtrack and a couple of songs featured from the second movie.

So I'm gonna be in Israel for the next 4 weeks, most likely without internet (or computer) access.
Am very excited.
Will try to draw while I'm gone (well, I'm backloaded for stuff as it is.. I still have zillions of sketches to upload and/or colour but I haven't yet because I've been busy).

Am further excited because when I get back I'll have both the 7th Harry Potter book and Eclipse from Stephenie Meyer's series to read.

Just uploaded a ton of old/new sketches from my second [less used] sketchbook.

The problem discussed in my last journal - not gone yet, but semi-well so far. Meh.

Ugh. I'm having such a shitty new year.

Okay, so my family goes to Florida for three weeks, for my aunt's [third] wedding and to visit afterwards. Don't get me wrong, I love Florida and the weather was great, but I would have been fine with just one week because I had to miss a lot of school and it's gonna be hell catching up and because I didn't get to see any of my friends, which is what I *really* wanted to be doing. Seriously, there was no one my age to talk to!

Okay so on New Years my friend is having a party so I call hoping to talk to a bunch of people (yes, long distance bills be damned) but no one actually talked *to* me, they just sort of talked around me. Half of them didn't know I called because they were too busy to come when Eli called them. So I got angry at them all.. though I'm over it at this point.

But then me and my very best friend had a lot of issues because a lot of dynamics in our friendship were changing, partly because of him recently acquiring a girlfriend who lives in a different country and partly because.. well.. I dunno. But anyways it was really bad. It went on for three days (and these sort of problems are hard to solve over msn, but it's not like I had much choice still being away) and harsh things were said and I cried and had to seek comfort with other close friends, over msn - still awkward.

We're good now, but we haven't had a chance to talk about it face to face yet having only got back yesterday and he bailed on me today when we were gonna do something (not his fault, but still).

And other crap.

I miss 2005. It was less complicated, more fun, and had less of a bad omen to it.
